Toastmasters back with a bang

The enthusiastic group met on Saturday, 19 January at the Barefoot Country Restaurant at Ngwenya Glass Village in Muldersdrift.

More than a score of the members of the Bacon and Egg Toastmasters International attended the first club meeting for the year to continue sharpening their individual personal development.

The enthusiastic group met on Saturday, 19 January at the Barefoot Country Restaurant at Ngwenya Glass Village in Muldersdrift, where they continued to build their skills through their educational programme, which allows each member to conquer self-doubt struggles.

After various speakers, a fresh member of the club, Riana Badenhorst, reflected on how Toastmasters has improved her personality. “On my first visit to Toastmasters, I learnt a lot of things that made me a better speaker and more comfortable about speaking in public,” she said.

She added that her behaviour was also changed by the evaluations that she observed from other members and the feedback she received to improve herself. “The Toastmasters also taught me how to present in public and also what not to say and when to stop during a speech,” a grateful Riana said.

The president of the club, Cheron McNab, reflected on the turnout and encouraged more people to join them. “We had a good turnout, thanks to the launch that we did earlier on. The meeting was excellent because we had two visitors that signed up and the general feedback from others showed that they were interested in joining up,” she explained.

She also told Northsider about what makes them unique. “What makes us different is that we are a breakfast club that meets on the first and third Saturday mornings, which creates a different vibe and atmosphere from those that meet during the evenings,” Cheron concluded.
