Whispers from the Heart Poetry Club, in conjunction with Photo Memories, is hosting a poetry competition with a different first prize up for grabs.
Entry fee is R150 per entrant and 20 poems per entrant.
• First prize is a 20-page illustrated lay-flat full colour portrait coffee table album valued at R1 200
• Second prize is a 20-page illustrated standard full colour portrait coffee table album valued at R900
• Third prize is a 20-page illustrated standard full colour 20cm x 20cm coffee table album valued at R650
• Fourth prize. There will be ten fourth prize winners who will be entered (at no additional cost) into our annual competition, with a maximum of three poems by each published in our annual book of verse and short stories (each 4th prize winner will receive a copy of the book). They will also stand a chance to win one of the cash prizes.
Rules:
• Competition is subject to receipt of 50 entries of 20 poems per entrant
• All entries must be sent in a Word document using Arial font
• Each entrant must have a maximum of 20 poems to submit
• Design and illustration of books to be discussed in detail with each winner
• Only paid entries will be considered for the prizes
• Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash
• Books will be mailed via registered mail, but if preferred the books can be sent via courier at the winner’s cost.
• Poems are limited to one page in length. Poems not fitting to a page will be discussed with winner
• Each winner will receive one copy of the coffee table album but additional copies can be purchased at the winner’s cost
• If a winner wants more poems published in the book, extra pages can be purchased at the winner’s cost
• The competition is only open to South African residents
• Non-winners can also have their work published in a Coffee Table Album, but would be required to bear the costs
