For many property owners, especially those on farms and small-holdings, and those who own vacant plots of land, land invasions are a very real threat.
And with certain loopholes in the law, swift action is needed. The Metro Police have released a notice regarding the matter. It reads as follows:
• Kindly be advised that the Metro Police has established a land invasion hotline number with effect immediately.
• The hotline number is 0800 120 555. It will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• All incidents of land invasion must be reported to this number for the Metro Police’s swift intervention.
• Please disseminate and share this number with your stakeholders and any other relevant parties.
