Ruimsig parkrun fully embraces National Hat Day

The Parkrun on 12 January was held in accordance with a crazy hat theme.

Ruimsig’s parkrun held its first themed run of the year on Saturday, 12 January, with runners and course marshals donning all sorts of funny hats.

Every year, National Hat Day is celebrated on 15 January, giving millions of people an excuse to wear that funky hat they keep hiding in the back of their cupboard. The Ruimsig parkrun was keen on getting in on the funky hat action this year, as they invited all of their runners to don a funky hat for the parkrun on 12 January.

While it might seem silly to run 5km with a funky hat on, it’s even sillier to stay at home and not take part in the fun. The runners, marshals and all involved took part in the fun with every kind of crazy funky hat finding its way to the event.

The Ruimsig parkrun is a weekly 5km run (or walk) that starts and ends at Ruimsig Stadium, giving people a chance to exercise and have fun for no cost at all.
