Dirkie Uys murder – Police still in the dark about case

Cause of death has not been determined yet.

Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Kay Makhubela, was hesitant to divulge more information with regard to the murder that occurred on 15 January in Dirkie Uys Street, due to the early stage of the investigation.

He could not add much to what the Record published yesterday. In his short reply to our request for comment, he had the following to say: “We can confirm that a murder investigation is still under way. The police were alerted by a neighbour.

The incident seems to have been a house robbery but we have not yet been able to establish whether anything has been stolen, since two TVs and other goods were found outside on the pavement, which means they might have fled without any valuables. We also do not want to speculate as to the cause of death pending the autopsy report”.

The Record will keep its readers posted as more information surfaces.
