The SPCA’s wishlist for Christmas

'Our Christmas list could go on for ever'

Christmas is around the corner, and we are all bustling to get that special gift, but have you stopped to think about those who would not be receiving anything?

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA will be open during the festive season, and Mandy Cattanach, the manager, said, “The staff will be working throughout this time to ensure that all the animals in our kennels are cared for, and our inspectors will be on duty to assist any stray animals that require help.”

As with anyone else, the shelter also has a Christmas wishlist, which, according to Mandy, could go on forever, but she highlighted the following items as the most urgent:

• Montego cat and dog food (dry pellets)

• Tinned cat and dog food (especially kitten and puppy)

• Cat and dog toys and treats

• Artificial turf for the cattery

• Paint for the SPCA offices

• Professional welder to help with the repair of the kennel gates

• A tiler to tile the reception office and cattery

• New lawn mower

• Items that can be sold in the charity shop

• Blankets, carpets and cat bedsShe added that monetary donations, which will help with the day-to-day running of the shelter, will always be welcomed with open arms.

“Donations can be paid into the Roodepoort SPCA’s Standard Bank account, 021145571, Branch code 015641. A gesture of appreciation for the staff would also mean a lot to them.”For more information, contact Mandy on 011 672 0448.
