Matla A Bana and its volunteers packed 400 comfort packs to be distributed between 16 different police stations in North West and Gauteng.

The compiling of the comfort packs was made possible by a few sponsors and a group of devoted volunteers who spent more than two hours packing 400 comfort packs which will go towards helping abused children who are under police protection. To be more specific, they will be distributed to numerous Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offence Units (FCS) of the South African Police Service, formerly known as the Child Protection Services Unit.

The police were also out in support of Matla A Bana at the packing of the packs, as Sergeant Matshepo Mpikashe of Honeydew Police Station’s Victim Empowerment Centre was one of the volunteers. The centre helps with counselling and rehabilitation of women and children who have been abused and/ or raped. They also play an integral role in the opening of cases against abusers and rapists, and in child protection. The comfort packs are destined for boys and girls in two different age groups; 5–8 years old, and 9–12 years old, with each age group receiving the necessary basics to try and continue with life. Of the 400 packs that were put together, 300 will be distributed between 12 FCS units in Gauteng, and 100 will be distributed between four FCS units in North West.
