Helper and seven-year-old child forced into the toilet during house robbery

'The perpetrators asked the helper whether there was money in the house, to which she replied, 'No'. They then locked the two victims in the toilet and ransacked the house.'

 

Honeydew Police have confirmed that a house robbery took place at a property in Strubens Valley, yesterday, 5 December. The perpetrators helped themselves to valuables worth over R30 000.

A seven-year-old child and a 32-year-old domestic helper, who were locked inside the toilet during the robbery, were at home at about 10.30am when three unknown individuals, one wielding a firearm stormed into the property.

“The domestic helper was busy cleaning the house while the boy was watching television with the sliding door left open when the three unknown males got into the house, and threatened them if they made any noise,” said the Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan.

He added, “The perpetrators asked the helper whether there was money in the house, to which she replied, ‘No’. They then locked the two victims in the toilet and ransacked the house”.

The following items were taken: two laptops, jewellery and some perfumes, with an estimated total value of R35 000.

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
