Charterhouse officially promotes Grade 0s with special graduation

The graduation marks the learners' moving on from pre-primary to primary school next year.

More than 100 Grade 0 learners at Charterhouse School bade farewell to their pre-primary school careers when the school held a special graduation on Friday, 23 November.

While we, the general public, might be used to a Grade 12 and university graduation, primary schools such as Charterhouse have more special people to celebrate and honour; the little Grade 0s, who are the future. In what has become somewhat of a tradition for the school, Grade 0 and Grade 6 learners come together to say goodbye to the ‘small school’ and hello to the big school.

While the Grade 0s are the ones who are graduating, the Grade 6s attend the evening so that the next year’s Grade 1s are able to get familiar with the next year’s Grade 7s. The Grade 0s walked up onto the stage where they were handed a special scroll before heading behind the curtains to prepare for a special performance that would come after the ceremony.

The Grade 0s belted out special renditions of well-known pop songs with a twist, while busting out some pretty cool dance moves too. The Grade 6s joined them on stage for a special song before everyone in the hall closed the evening off with a heartwarming rendition of the national anthem.
