Poortview receives yet another visit from Chinese Wushu delegates

Wushu athletes from around the country came together to benefit from the training.

Wushu athletes and coaches from the Chinese Wushu Federation (CWF) paid the South African Wushu Federation (SAWF) a visit for a training seminar on Saturday, 24 November.

The top level coaches from the CWF were invited by the SAWF to offer the course at its headquarters, which has been visited by various Chinese Wushu athletes this year, among them a team that put on a number of mesmerising demonstrations for the crowds in attendance in July.

This time around however, the Chinese athletes didn’t pay a visit simply to show off, instead they were invited by the SAWF to conduct a training seminar at the association’s headquarters in Poortview. The seminar saw Wushu athletes from right around the country, as far as Bloemfontein and Durban, make the trip to Poortview to see what valuable lessons, tips, and tricks they could learn from the CWF, which just happens to boast one of the best Wushu teams in the world.

The training began in the morning, with more than 50 South African athletes in attendance to try and make the most of a very special opportunity to acquire some new skills. The training went on right throughout the day, with a lunch break at 2pm because of the intense Highveld summer heat.

The day of training culminated in a special evening where athletes were rewarded for their hard work during the day.
