Witpoortjie Community Flea Market appealing to public for support

Market held at Putt-Putt course.

On 3 November, the first Witpoortjie Community Flea Market was held at the Putt-Putt Course on Generaal Pienaar Avenue, but the organiser, Roxanne Prenchund, said interest faded soon after.

According to her, the very reason she started the flea market was for small businesses and entrepreneurs to have a platform to exhibit their products. Roxanne said that having her own business she knows the challenges small businesses face.

“We urge the public to support the flea market either by booking a stall or buying one of the lovely products or food,” said Roxanne.

Stalls range from handcrafts to delicious food. Visitors can also play a round of Putt-Putt but at their own expense. There are also games and other entertainment.

The market takes place every Saturday and Sunday. Recently they held a potjiekos contest which was a great success. On 15 December, they will hold their first bunny chow competition.
