Deck the halls with boughs of holly at the Botanical Garden this weekend

Candles and lanterns will be sold at the gate, in case you forget to bring yours along because it will be a candlelit event.

Christmas fever will fill the air at Johannesburg’s number one outdoor destination when the jingle bells echo at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden’s annual Christmas Carols this weekend (1 and 2 December) from 2pm till late.

The event’s main act, the world-renowned Welsh Male Choir, will ensure that the Carols will echo all around and travel over the ridges of the West Rand, ushering in the festive spirit. Joy to the WorldO come all ye FaithfulSilent Night, and Jingle Bells are just some of the classic carols that will constitute the repertoire for the event.

There will also be various other artists, including Venetia Rose, Jaco Vee, Maryna Booysen, and I am Second, who will also entertain the crowds as curtain-raisers from noon.

Children will not be left out of this family-oriented event as there will be many other activities such as face-painting and jumping castles to keep them busy.

Since Christmas is the time for giving, there will be stalls selling a wide variety of gifts and unique items you can buy as Christmas presents or just for personal indulgence. Tickets to enter the event are R80 per adult and R20 per scholar, and are available online at www.webtickets.co.za/event.aspx?itemid=1484880508.

As the event doubles as a charity fundraiser, donation boxes for money and other donations will be provided at the entrance.
