Accident leaves Fleurhof man in critical condition

He had sustained serious injuries to his head and leg

A man, believed to be in his 50s, was critically injured yesterday morning, 5 November, when he was knocked over by a bakkie on Helpmekaar Road in Fleurhof.

According to Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on the scene at 7.30am where the man was lying in the middle of the road. The bakkie had come to a stop on the side of the road.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his head and leg, leaving him in a critical condition. He was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for urgent care,” Meiring said.

He added that the driver of the bakkie escaped injury.

The cause of the accident is not yet known and local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
