Fred Astaire hosted an epic House of Horrors party

Guests were entertained with ghosts, ghouls, witches, eerie music and scary cocktails

“This was certainly the event of the year, and I promise that next year’s event will be even better,” said Ronél Harris, owner of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio.

Keeping up with the Halloween theme, the studio recently hosted a ‘House of Horrors’ event, where guests had the opportunity to dress up in their scariest outfits and enjoy a night of socialising – in a true terror theme.

Ronél said that the make-up, decor and refreshments were all done in such a way that would get the biggest scare out of every guest, and explained, “Upon entering, guests were greeted with a truly stunning House of Horrors hall, complete with eerie music, flying bats and scary cocktail drinks (sporting floating eyeballs and severed fingers). The decor included ghosts, ghouls, witches and other frightful characters that were placed in strategic locations around the venue.”

The sounds emanating from the ghouls and witches, combined with the evil fog gurgling from behind black curtains, certainly added to the horror atmosphere.

Estee Sanders was excited to attend the party with her face all made up for the occasion.

She added that even the lift to the entrance of the venue was not spared, and said, “Visitors was greeted with a massive spiderweb cage, complete with spiders of all sizes, and the entrance to the bathrooms was turned into a graveyard with cobwebs and evil sound effects.” Guests could also visit a crime scene in all its gory and gruelling detail.

“But the party could not have been a success if the theme had not extended to the food that was served as well, and guests could snack on blackened chicken pieces, ghostly marshmallow treats, paté in the shape of an evil face and loads of ‘spiders’!” Ronél said.

She concluded by thanking everyone involved as they ensured that the party was a huge success, and said, “Thank you to Face to Face School in Roodepoort for helping with the guests’ make-up, as well as sponsoring the props for the crime scene. I also want to thank Shade Theron from Dash-e Events, who assisted me with the decor.”
