A laugh a minute at Toastmasters’ humorous contest

The contest was hosted by the West Rand Toastmasters

The West Rand Toastmasters hosted the annual Area S2 Humorous contest on 18 October, and it was an evening filled with laughter.

The contest saw four clubs – Bacon & Egg, Soweto Positive Speakers, Florida Toastmasters and West Rand Toastmasters – competing for the spoils. The Contest Chair was Thando Cofu.

The evening saw excellent speakers keeping the audience – and judges – on the edge of their seats. But, through all the laughter, winners had to be chosen, and they were as follows:

• The humorous contest was won by Bonny Matlala (Soweto Positive Speakers) with Glen Campbell (West Rand Toastmasters) in second place.

• The Best Evaluator was Max Kaan (West Rand Toastmasters) with Kevin Marsden (Bacon & Egg) in second place.

• Kevin Marsden (Bacon & Egg) won the Best Impromptu Speech with his speech, titled ‘Best time of my life’. Bonny Matlala (Soweto Positive Speakers) was the runner-up.

• Sandile Selaule (Soweto Positive Speakers) was the Demo Speaker for the Evaluation contest, and his speech was titled, ‘Drink it while it’s hot’

Glen Campbell, the Vice President: Public Relations, said, “An enjoyable evening was had by all, and I just want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the role players who made this evening an unforgettable event.”
