The rollout of the Little Falls and Strubens Valley Residential Community (Lifco) camera network has proved its worth. A wanted vehicle was picked up by the cameras, which led to the arrest of the driver.
A bogus car buyer allegedly cheated the owner of a Toyota Tazz near Peter Road in Ruimsig. According to BCI Security, the potential ‘buyer’ met the owner to view the vehicle.
“Just before 11am on 28 September, BCI Security teams were notified that a Toyota Tazz was stolen by a potential ‘buyer’ who came to view the vehicle near Peter Road.”
A security vehicle from Eagle Canyon initially pursued the vehicle before BCI and Honeydew joined in.
“Contact was made with the person chasing the stolen vehicle and the BCI operations team, TRT and armed-response teams positioned themselves in strategic locations to intercept the stolen vehicle.

“Honeydew Police members were also monitoring the situation and were only a couple of minutes away from joining the chase.
“Information was received from the BCI control room CCTV operators who monitor the Lifco camera network that the vehicle was on Cascades Road in Little Falls. Shortly afterwards the suspect was caught by BCI and Eagle Canyon Security, and thereafter arrested by Honeydew Police,” the report read.
