Special operations yield results

46 suspects arrested

The Roodepoort Police conducted successful stop-and-search operations during the past weekend.

According to Sergeant Juliet Mogale, the communications officer at the Roodepoort Police Station, 46 suspects between the ages of 16 and 45 were arrested.

“They were arrested for a variety of crimes, including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious injury to property, housebreaking and theft, exposure or display of pornography, common assault (violation of protection order), kidnapping, crimen injuria, armed robbery, shoplifting, theft, hijacking, dealing in dagga, possession of drugs, possession of dagga and possession of illegal gold concentration sand,” she said.

All suspects were charged and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
