Two suspects sentenced after good investigative work

They received a six years prison sentence

 

The excellent investigative work of Roodepoort Police’s detective Sergeant Monyela led to the imprisonment of two perpetrators.

Donald Mokoto, 26 and Tshepo Mojaki, 30, were sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for housebreaking with the intent to steal, and theft.

According to Sergeant Juliet Mogale, the Roodepoort Police communications officer, the initial complaint was received on 11 September last year. “At approximately 6.35pm the police received a complaint of housebreaking on Proot Street, Witpoortjie. Upon their arrival, two suspects were found, surrounded by the community. They were in possession of two television sets,” she explained.

She added that the suspects were arrested and detained at the police station where Monyela was assigned the case. He ensured that all the correct procedures were followed, and the two suspects went on trial. They were found guilty and sentenced on 30 August.

The station commander, Brigadier Sam Manala, applauded the excellent work by the detective, which led to a successful conviction.
