According to Ward 85 councillor, Sonja Meyer, the residents are protesting about accommodation in the government flats. Allegations are that when the flats were built, some people from Princess were told that they would be allowed to move in once the flats were ready. However, that did not happen and others who are not entitled to now live there illegally. The residents are unhappy about it and this resulted in the protest action.

Motorists are urged to avoid Albertina Sisulu Road at the Princess informal settlement, and use alternative routes.

Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin advised chronic patients and those who seek medical attention to go to neighbouring clinics such as the Helderkruin or Davidsonville Clinic.
