Armed robbers target Horison Shopping Centre

They took money and cellphones

Six armed robbers pounced on customers and staff at Cash Converters in Horison on Sunday, 9 September.

According to Sergeant Juliet Mogale, the Roodepoort Police spokesperson, the shop manager was busy with stocktaking when she noticed a person in the shop pointing a firearm at a customer. “She tried to press the panic button, but the assailant noticed it and warned her not to move. After making sure she was the manager, he searched her and took her iPhone,” Mogale said.

Five others entered the shop, demanding money. They jumped over the counter, opened the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money. They also took three cellphones from the staff members before fleeing in a silver bakkie without a registration number.

Mogale concluded by saying, “The case is being investigated”.
