Shopkeeper shot in the head

Honeydew Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan told Northsider that the suspects ordered the victims to lie on the floor as they ransacked the store.

 

Honeydew Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and business robbery that took place in Zandspruit on 9 September.

A shopkeeper was shot in the head while he and his two co-workers were held at gunpoint by three suspects who helped themselves to cosmetics, food, cigarettes and airtime at the supermarket.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan told Northsider that the suspects ordered the victims to lie on the floor as they ransacked the store. Two of the workers managed to flee the store, leaving their colleague behind with the robbers. “While the complainant and another worker were running to a friend’s shop, the complainant heard a shot. When they returned to the shop they found his brother with a gunshot wound to the head,” Muthan explained.

Muthan added that the friend helped the victims to get to the police station and the wounded shopkeeper was rushed to the hospital.
