Wilro Lions donate to the firefighters

Emergency parcels delivered to those who battled the deadly blaze

Members from the Lions Club in Wilro Park honoured their motto – ‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion’ – during the recent fire crisis in Johannesburg.

“When we heard the urgent appeal from the City of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Services for donations of much-needed items for the firefighters fighting several fires that broke out throughout Johannesburg, we immediately came together and packed some emergency food parcels,” said Sandy van Heerden, the Club’s Public Relations Officer.

She added that the food parcels, containing water, fruit, chocolates and lozenges, were delivered to the Florida Fire Station, where they were distributed to those who were trying their best to bring the fires under control.

“We are grateful to all our members, as well as the community, who came out and helped us to help those in need,” she concluded.
