The classes at the Trinityhouse Little Falls Preparatory School competed against each other in a Soapbox Derby competition on Saturday, 8 September, to raise funds for charity.
The fun-filled day had the learners dressed in different colours representative of their classes and using their endless energy to race around the school grounds in the go-karts, in full view of the crowd of spectators made up of their peers and parents.
Soapbox Derby facilitator Jan Botha discussed how the derby was structured. “The Soapbox Derby is a competition between the classes, with the class that performs the most rounds in an allocated time frame being declared the winners,” he said.
He added that it is always a fun encounter for the children as this kind of sport teaches them how to interact with each other and work as a team.
