A Roodepoort teacher, 22-year-old Collan Rex, who was an assistant water polo coach at the prestigious Parktown Boys’ High School, pleaded guilty to 144 counts of sexual assault of boys at the school on Tuesday, 21 August.
He was arrested in November 2016 after CCTV footage surfaced of him caught in the act of sexually assaulting a boy. Other charges against him included exposing a minor to pornography and attempted murder. He is also facing a further 183 charges ranging from attempted murder and rape, to sexual grooming and exposing minors to pornography.
On Monday, 27 August, the Prosecution will call the remaining witnesses to testify ahead of the sentencing proceedings.
