Local bikers spoil the children

The event was held at a packed Harley Davidson dealership on 21 July.

Christmas came early for the children living under the care of the Baby Moses Sanctuary when a local biking Chapter, Clearwater Harley Owners Group (HOG), treated them to a fun-filled day dubbed ‘Christmas in July’.

The event was held at a packed Harley Davidson dealership on 21 July. Before the auspicious occasion, the children were surprised with a convoy of roaring motorbikes and open top cars that fetched them from the Sanctuary’s premises and gave them the ride of a lifetime around town as they headed to the Clearwater dealership.

“We picked them up from their home and slowly drove them through town with an escort of Harley Davidson motorbikes and open top vehicles as we brought them to the venue.

They thoroughly enjoyed the rides,” said Dion Glass, the Chapter director, as he relived the atmosphere of the experience.

According to Dion, the aim was to support the orphanage from a charitable perspective. He also delved into their charitable initiative and how they came about to adopt Baby Moses as their charity of choice. “As the Chapter, we identify various charities that we want to donate to. We focus mainly on children and raise money through the Chapter. We then donate it in various forms through such events or through cash or even gifts. Baby Moses is our identified charity of choice that we will support right throughout the year at various events,” he explained, adding that they are also committed to other charitable initiatives such as the cancer ride and Mandela Day.

Dion thanked a couple of sponsors who made the day possible and memorable for the children. “We would like to thank our sponsors for the day – Gladiator Inflatables, Avbob, Bob’s Steaks and the Harley Davidson dealership for providing us with the venue,” he said.
