Brace yourself for another fuel price shocker in August

Motorists still reeling from July increase

While motorists are still reeling from the fuel price hike that kicked in today, 4 July, with 95 octane petrol breaking the R16 barrier, another hike looms on the horizon.

According to Efficient Group Economist, Dawie Roodt, motorists can expect another hike of about 25c per litre in August which will also push 93 octane petrol over the R16 mark. The price currently sits at R15,80 per litre while 95 octane has topped out at R16,02 per litre.

The rise in the fuel price can be blamed on the poor Rand/ Dollar exchange rate as well as on the rising price of crude oil.
