Another shocker for motorists

Poor households will suffer the most, said Cosatu.

Fuel will reach its highest price ever tomorrow, 4 July.

According to the Department of Energy, the price of petrol will increase by as much as 26c per litre, diesel’s price will rise between 24c and 26c per litre and illuminating paraffin’s price will climb by 22c per litre. The price of gas will rise by between 30c and 37c a kilogram.

The Department ascribed the hike to the rand/ dollar exchange rate.

Sizwe Pamla of Cosatu said poor households will be hit hardest by the hike in prices, especially where paraffin is used instead of electricity.
