Unlicensed firearms must be surrendered at the police station

Community advised to visit their nearest police station

Police are advising all unlicensed firearm owners to surrender their firearms at their nearest police station.

“At Roodepoort Police Station, all firearms should be brought to the first floor, room 105 between 7.30am and 4pm,” said Juliet Mogale, Roodepoort Police’s spokesperson.

She added that, if your licence has expired, you should take your identity document to your nearest police station. “If the firearm is damaged all parts of the firearm should be brought along. Owners should also know that no tampered-with firearms will be accepted, as it is illegal. The owners will be arrested immediately, should it be found that they have tampered with it.”
