VIDEO: BREAKING: Security vehicle plunges into wall during chase

A motorist was arrested after failing to stop at a speed trap and causing chaos while being pursued by law enforcement.

A high-speed chase involving Johannesburg Metro Police, BCI Security and a lawless motorist resulted in a horrid crash this afternoon, Monday, 2 July.

The motorist was being chased by JMPD after failing to stop at a speed trap between CR Swart and Ouklip Roads in Helderkruin.

JMPD then chased after the driver of the white Citi Golf down Doreen Road across Hendrik Potgieter Road onto Peter Road – skipping red traffic lights along the way. The driver of the Golf, who’s said to have had his girlfriend in the car with him, turned right on Van Dalen Road into Willowbrook Estate, where JMPD asked for assistance from a BCI Security vehicle, which tried to corner the wanted vehicle.

“Approximately 20 minutes later we received the dreaded call that our officer was involved in an accident,” explained Gary Jordaan, BCI Security media liaison officer who was alerted about the pursuit via their control room.

“As our member came around a corner, the suspect’s vehicle collided with our officer’s vehicle and the BCI vehicle went through the wall of a complex, finally coming to rest against a house,” Gary explained.

He added, “Our Operations Team and ER24 paramedics responded to the scene where our TRT member was found to be injured. He was treated by the ER24 Advanced Life Support Paramedics. He was stabilised and transported to a local hospital for further treatment.”

After the crash, the wanted vehicle disappeared inside a complex; however, the escape was short-lived as another security company directed JMPD to the complex and a man was subsequently arrested.

The crash endangered the lives of Vumatel subcontractors and the family living in the house against which BCI’s wrecked vehicle came to a standstill.

Gary appealed to the community to pray for the speedy recovery of their officer who’s currently receiving treatment at Life Flora Clinic.
