Woman knocked over by taxi left critically injured

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

A 33-year-old woman was left critically injured this morning when she was knocked over by a taxi on Main Road in Newlands.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 7.30am to find the woman lying in the middle of the road. The taxi that had knocked her down was parked on the side of the road a short distance away.

Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained a serious injury to her head which left her in a critical condition.

Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise the patient’s vital signs.

Once treated, the woman was transported to Helen Joseph Provincial hospital for further care.

The driver of the taxi escaped injury.
