Community stands together and fights crime
Matholesville patrollers are setting a good example to other communities in Roodepoort.
“As communities we should stand together and fight crime because it affects each and every one of us,” said Community Safety Patroller Petros Dlamini.
Roodepoort Police’s Constable Shumikazi Mbuli and the Department of Community’s Safety Officer, Geraldine Mochubela, recently congratulated and welcomed the new Community Safety Patrollers. The new patrollers were happy to receive their uniforms as they were ready to take on the challenge of patrolling.
Community Safety Patrollers are residents of Matholesville who volunteer their time to safeguard their neighbourhood by patrolling at night.
“We are a very pro-active team of patrollers because at the end of the day it is our own families that we are protecting from thugs,” said community safety patroller Abel Nzume.
“Matholesville patrollers are setting a good example to other communities in Roodepoort. If every neighbourhood could volunteer their time to fight crime, the crime rate would surely decrease,” said Mbuli.
