Fuel price to reach record high

Projections according to the Central Energy Fund.

Motorists in Gauteng must brace themselves for a record-high petrol price in June.

According to the Central Energy Fund the rise in prices could be attributed to a steep increase in the price of crude oil and a weak rand. Between 52c and 56c are due to the higher crude-oil price, while between 30c and 31c can be attributed to the weak rand.

Petrol will increase by 83c per liter, diesel by 87c and illuminating paraffin by 80c.

The diesel price is also at a record high.
