Swift action from the Honeydew Police prevented armed robbers from escaping with a quantity of cash stolen from a well-known supermarket this past weekend.

Cashiers at Spar Honeydew were held at gunpoint on Saturday, 26 May by two robbers who demanded full cooperation from them, otherwise they would be shot and killed, said the police statement.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, explained how the officers saved the day and arrested the suspects.

“The complainant [a staff member] was outside the store when she heard the cashiers inside start screaming. As she went to ask one of the cashiers what was happening, she saw two unknown suspects, one fat and the other skinny, holding up the store.”

“She then sneaked into an office where she was able to call the police before being grabbed by her hair by the suspects, who demanded that she open the tills,” Muthan explained.

He added that police were quick to respond and apprehended the suspects before they could make off with any cash.
