Witpoortjie library hosts open mic poetry session
Recovering addicts shared their experiences
Are you poetic? Do you love reading or writing poems? If so, then the following should interest you.
“Alcohol is a wonderful stain remover; it removes your good name, your ability to think and if you use too much it will also remove you.”
These are just a few lines from one of the poems that were recited at the Witpoortjie Library open mic poetry session that was held in May.
Local artists were invited to prepare a poem, monologue, dialogue, solo performance, song or dance. The theme of the day was substance abuse and the slogan was ‘Life can take you higher than drugs’.
Recovering addicts shared their experiences and motivated others to stay away from drugs and alcohol. People used poetry to express themselves and to tell their life stories. To see what took place at the event, use the links below.
