VIDEO: Bakkie bursts into flames on Jim Fouche Road

It is unclear what sparked the fire, but the visuals shared with the Northsider indicate that it came from under the bonnet.

Thick smoke could be seen from a distance when a bakkie caught alight on Jim Fouché Road in Allen’s Nek this morning, 25 May.

It is unclear what sparked the fire on the vehicle, but from the visuals that were shared with the Northsider, it was clear that the fire came from under the bonnet.

The vehicle was filmed by a passing motorist who captured images of the vehicle on the side of road, burning fiercely. At the time, about 7am, emergency services had not arrived.

However, another video, of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services personnel using fire extinguishers to douse the blaze, has since surfaced.

The Northsider will keep readers informed of any further developments.
