Local company opens its heart and helps the SPCA

Thirty bags of dog food donated

After recently publishing a plea from the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA, we can report that they have received some much-needed donations.

A Witpoortjie couple answered the call, and donated 30 10kg bags of dog food. “We are from a company called Rainbow Waterproofing and Repairs, and, with this donation, we want to issue a challenge to all the other businesses to either top, or match our donation,” said Sophia van Deventer.

Mandy Cattanach, the manager at the SPCA, expressed her gratitude for this lovely gesture, and said, “This donation will definitely help us quite a bit, and we do appreciate that Allen and Sophia thought of us.”

She added that they hope this donation fires up the rest of the community to also contribute to the well-being and care of the shelter animals. “But, we still need blankets, food and old newspapers at the SPCA, and we would really appreciate more donations,” she said.

The storm blankets that are available at Jet, Ackermans or Pep Stores usually last the longest. Carpeting would also be great, but not underfelt.

Donations can be dropped off at the SPCA, situated at 3 Nadine Street, Florida. Alternatively, they can be dropped off at the Record’s offices, on the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie.
