Meet the ANC candidate for the Ward 85 by-election
Shadrack Makaota is the ANC candidate for Ward 85
Three candidates have made themselves available for election in the upcoming ward 85 by-election, that will be taking place on 23 May from 7am to 7pm.
The first candidate is Shadrack Makaota from the African National Congress.
“I commit to placing my energy and skills at the disposal of the community, and work together with them, side by side, as we strive to build a better life for all. I will listen to their views, and deepen public participation and accountability in local government, by holding regular public meetings, at least four times a year,” he said.
Shadrack also promised to look into the municipal service delivery issues in the ward and said, “I will make sure residents are briefed on municipal service delivery issues in the ward on a regular basis, while working on the improvement of municipal responses to complaints from the community.”
As a ward councillor, he aims to represent the views and needs of the residents in the ward at Council, while fighting fraud and corruption on programmes and projects earmarked for the ward.
“I will live in the community where I have been elected, to ensure partnerships with businesses, community organisations and other forums of peoples’ participation are strengthened.
I will also make my contact details accessible to all community members in the ward,” said Shadrack.
Special votes at voting stations, as well as home visits, will be conducted on 22 May, from 8am to 5pm.
Voting stations that will be open on Election Day are:
• Die Gereformeerde Kerk in Phillips Avenue, Discovery
• Laerskool Horison, Weaver Street, Horison
• Biokinetic Centre, Phisant Street, Helderkruin
• Lebogang Crèche, Plot 61, Princess
