BCI rescues wandering pony in Ruimsig

A miniature pony was seen wandering around on Peter Road, Ruimsig, in the late evening of Friday, 20 April and again in early morning hours of Saturday, 21 April.

The pony is reportedly a resident of the plot adjacent to the Pick-Me Nursery, where it has been seen over the last few months.

The plot has recently been equipped with some jungle gyms and play area equipment, with the pony also on site.

A number of residents saw the pony late on Friday evening, and at approximately 2am on Saturday, 21 April, BCI Security was contacted about it.

According to Arno Dorfling, the operations manager on duty at the time, motorists and other residents had ushered the pony to the side of the road where it would be safer.

It took three BCI security officers to load the pony into the back of their vehicle. Photo: Facebook.

“We were called out by a client of ours. When we got there, we found the pony on the side of the road and out of harm’s way,” Arno said.

The pony was close to the plot where it normally lives, but it had managed to escape through a hole in the perimeter fencing.

“A vehicle crashed into the fence sometime during the day, leaving a hole through the which the pony escaped,” Arno went on to say.

Despite it taking three of them to do so, BCI members eventually loaded the pony onto the back of their bakkie and took it to a client’s residence for the remainder of the night.

The owners of the pony were eventually located on Saturday morning and it was safely reunited with its owners.
