Pedestrian accident leaves man critical

Man treated by ER24.

A man was left critically injured this afternoon (23 April) when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

ER24 paramedics found the pedestrian lying on the pavement while the light motor vehicle was standing next to him.

Paramedics assessed the victim and found that he had sustained a serious head injury, leaving him in a critical condition.

The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, he was transported to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped injury, although visibly shaken.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
