2018 Woman of Stature winners announced

Winners announced at prestigious award ceremony

The annual Woman of Stature (WOS): Woman of the Year Awards took place recently and 55 of South Africa’s most prominent women competed for one of nine awards.

The annual WOS: Woman of the Year Awards are not limited to any particular field of endeavour, and for this reason they rank amongst South Africa’s most prestigious awards for women.

Katlego Ncala (Overall winner) and Charlotte du Plessis (MD OF Woman of Stature).

Charlotte du Plessis, the Managing Director of WOS, said, “These nominees are prominent within their respective communities and have reached considerable heights within their careers. They each reflect our values and focus at Woman of Stature, which is empowering of women from all walks of life.”

The MC for the evening was Robyn Christie and the guest speaker was Shafika Isaacs, who was Woman of the year for 2017. The winners were as follow:

• Katlego Ncala – Woman of the Year 2018, as well as the Youth Ambassador award

• Shamila Ramjawan – Woman Entrepreneur

• The Women in Business award winners were Ayanda Mafuleka (Woman in Finance) and Helen Desbois (Woman in Media)

• Doctor Mpume Simelane – Woman in Healthcare

• Mapalo Makhu – Woman in Education

• Colleen Larson – Director Award

A percentage of the evening’s proceeds were donated to The Cradle of Hope, one of the charitable causes supported by WOS, as well as towards WOS’ five pillars of empowerment.

“On behalf of WOS, I congratulate all these exceptional winners and look forward to even more amazing contributions from them throughout the South African business community,” Charlotte concluded.
