Man allegedly encourages his dogs to attack others

Owner reported incident to Roodepoort Police and SPCA.

A Groblerpark resident, Driekis Lubbe, is highly upset after his dog was allegedly attacked on purpose, and wants to warn other dog owners in the area to beware of the culprit.

The dog in question is kept at Lubbe’s father’s house on Milton Crescent. On Sunday, 8 April, the family was out when an incident occurred at about 3pm. A man walking three Pit Bulls was allegedly spotted by a neighbour encouraging his dogs to attack other dogs in the street. He let the dogs off their leashes and one of them grabbed Lubbe’s dog through the palisades. Although Lubbe’s dog managed to free himself from the Pit Bull’s jaws, his nose was badly injured.

Lubbe said it was not the first time the man had been seen doing this and claims other witnesses can attest to this. He also alleges that the specific Pit Bull that bit his dog is being used in dog-fighting, but this could not be confirmed.

He reported the matter to both the SPCA and the Roodepoort Police.
