Police warn of school parking crisis

Johannesburg Metro Police issued a report on parents who disobey the parking instructions arranged by local schools, thus posing a danger to the learners and disrupting traffic.

While schools remain closed for the Easter holidays, police have urged parents and scholar transport drivers to obey the parking points at local schools, as they have been branded as a cause for concern by the authorities.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, made the appeal after the Johannesburg Metro Police Department reported to the station about disobedient parents who disregard the schools’ parking instructions, thus posing a danger to the learners and an inconvenience to other motorists.

A local school, Panorama Primary School in Weltevreden Park, has previously been faced with a related issue – motorists ignoring the road signs during peak hour traffic on Albert Street.

Muthan warned that such matters can result in fines being imposed on lawless motorists.
