Police release ID kit of ‘kidnapper’ of deceased teenager

The Florida Police have released an identity kit picture of the man they believe was the driver of the bakkie from which deceased Jason Kruis jumped in order to escape.

On 18 December 2017, Kruis and two friends were walking to their homes in Discovery at about 9.30pm when a man in a black double-cab Ford bakkie stopped and asked if they wanted a lift. They allegedly declined but the man forced them onto the back of the bakkie. Along the way, they picked up a white male who was later dropped off at Gordon Road. The driver of the bakkie then started speeding in the direction of Randburg, skipping traffic lights and stop signs.

According to one of the surviving boys, the bakkie was travelling at about 120km/h and skipped every traffic light and stop sign. Eventually, the vehicle entered the N1 highway heading towards Randburg, where, according to the boy, the driver accelerated to about 220km/h, presumably thinking that the boys would not be able to escape by jumping off. The driver then lost control of the bakkie and drove into a ditch, at which point Kruis apparently decided to jump. When the bakkie came to a standstill, his friends ran to him but found him unconscious and bleeding.

The boys then allegedly waited for the emergency services, who treated Kruis on scene. However, Kruis later died in the Sunninghill Hospital.

The suspect is very dark of complexion and about 35 years old. He is approximately 1,82m tall and of medium build. He is bald, was speaking English and wearing grey jeans and a T-shirt. He is wanted for culpable homicide.
