The public’s total disregard of the stop signs at the intersection of Dirkie Uys and Penny Streets have not been exaggerated by the owner of Sterretjie Crèche, Dawie Ludick.

This morning (20 March), at about 7.45am, the Record visited the crèche to take video footage in order to establish the extent of the problem. It can be conservatively estimated that 80 per cent of the vehicles did not stop. What was disturbing was the number of school children on foot and on bicycles using these two roads.
Ludick, whose crèche is situated at the corner of the intersection, said he has been asking Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) since November 2016 to take action. JRA did send a representative to visit the location, but to date they have yet to solve the problem.
