Poorte welcomes Radio Raps to Weltevreden Park

Jonathan, from Radio Raps, held a show at Hyundai Weltevreden Park on Friday, 16 March that left the audience in absolute stitches.

Despite the chilly evening, the atmosphere at the Hyundai dealership was warm in anticipation of South Africa’s favourite Afrikaans comedian, Jonathan, from Radio Raps.

Jonathan presented his new show, Dingetjies en Goetertjies, to the people of Roodepoort for the first time, during a show organised by the Roodepoort Rugby Club.

The show kicked off with Jonathan’s signature entrance to the beat of Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger as he wove his way through the crowd to the stage. The ice was broken by a shout from the crowd, with someone shouting, “Show us your tiger eye”.

Jonathan’s show explored everything from day-to-day life to the wildest absurdities he has come across in his life.

Once his performance came to an end, MC for the evening, Nico Swartz Jnr, thanked Jonathan and called Poorte’s first team coach, Alwyn Hollenbach, to the stage.

Alwyn then, with great pride, announced that Roodepoort Rugby Club’s 1st XV captain for the year would be Gerhard ‘Scholla’ Scholtz.

An auction was then held, during which the club auctioned off a number of items, including the first of Poorte’s new kit to be made.

Tens of thousands of rands were raised for the club during the auction, and every cent will go towards growing the club.
