Volunteers needed for upcoming voter registration weekend

Ward councillor David Brand and MMC for Economic Development councillor Leah Knott provide the list of venues for the voter registration period for the weekend.

As we draw closer to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) voters’ registration this weekend, local councillors have made some appeals to the public.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Development and Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, has called for additional volunteers to assist at the voting stations in Ward 97 for the upcoming registration weekend on 10 and 11 March.

Knott has urged anyone willing to donate some of their time on either or both of these dates to kindly contact her on 082 633 9070.

Charterhouse Private School, Little Falls Pleasure Resort, Panorama FC, Roodepoort Athletics Stadium and Jacom Tabernacle Church, will be used as voting stations in her ward.

Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, also encouraged residents to come out in numbers for the voter registration. He urged people to take their identity documents to the following nearby venues: Allen Glen High School, Boskop Primary School and Weltevreden Park Primary School. He said no proof of residence will be required. He went on to say the voting stations will be open from 8am to 5pm, and they will be on duty outside to assist everyone.
