The incident happened at about 11.30am on Saturday, 3 March.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, who has cautioned residents about such crimes, said the armed men pretended to be detectives and said they wanted to make an arrest.

“Suddenly the victims were threatened with firearms, tied up and a number of televisions were taken,” he said.

Muthan added that the suspects fled the scene in a VW Caddy (panel van) and a white Ford Ranger, registration numbers unknown.

Muthan said, “Residents should request policemen to produce their identification, and call the nearest police station or 10111 if they seem to be bogus. They must also observe the individuals carefully and take down their vehicle registration numbers”.
