Large-scale police operation in Honeydew

This big operation will be an ongoing initiative and will be moving on to other police stations in the future, Muthan said.

A multi-disciplinary operation aimed at crime prevention in different police precincts across Gauteng turned its focus to Honeydew Police Station last week.

According to Captain Balan Muthan, the Honeydew Police spokesperson, the operations were conducted by various units from different regions to focus on curbing crime, one police precinct at a time. “The operation involved the Honeydew Police; the Firearms, Liquor and Second-hand Goods Control (FLASH) Unit; the Public Order Policing Unit; Pretoria and Soweto Flying Squads; the Tactical Response Team and K9 Unit, solely to address the trio of crimes – robberies, possession of firearms and liquor licence related offences – in the Honeydew policing area,” he said.

Muthan added that this large-scale operation will be an ongoing initiative and will be conducted in other police precincts as well.
