“In marriage you create your own fun”

A magazine with the purpose of empowering couples with techniques for resolving challenges and celebrating the joys of relationships and marriage.

“My wife and I believe that a proactive approach to marriage challenges will combat many “unhappy marriage” situations and eventually lower the divorce rate that is currently skyrocketing,” said Tshepo Selepe, founder of 2getha Magazine.

2getha Magazine is South Africa’s online relationships magazine for couples. The couple came up with the concept of starting a magazine with the purpose of empowering couples with techniques for resolving challenges and celebrating the joys of relationships and marriage. They are very passionate about couple’s empowerment.

The couple got married in December 2008 and because they were newlyweds and wanted their marriage to be a success, they were eager to learn not only about marriage but parenting, finances, and health issues that affect couples. Their enthusiasm led them to start an online magazine and learn with other couples. The couple partnered with experts in different fields to contribute to the magazine and publish the magazine bi-monthly. The readers have an opportunity to interact with the experts through seminars and workshops hosted by 2getha Magazine and facilitated by experts in areas such as relationship matters, parenting, medical (gynaecology and obstetrics) and finance

The seminars take the form of couples breakfasts and are targeted at couples who are not comfortable attending a one-on-one counselling session. Small groups meet to discuss specific topics which tend to be a challenge in marriage. These are ideal for a partner who refuses to attend counselling, especially for fear of facing the issue caused by him or her.

They also hold mother and daughter/ son classes, which ensure that there’s effective communication between a mother and her child. Mother and daughter classes address topics like menstrual cycles, rape, sex, teenage pregnancy, communication, education and self-love. The classes are conducted according to age groups. Mother and son classes address bullying, women abuse, alcohol and smoking, rape, communication, education and self-love.

Father and daughter/ son classes will be rolled out soon. The magazine also offers pre-marital classes consisting of classes presented by different experts on different topics over a six-week period. These classes help the couple to build a strong foundation to their marriage and to identify and address any potential areas of conflict early on, before they become serious concerns, and teach partners effective strategies for discussing and resolving the conflict.
