Driver crashes into bus stop after fleeing accident

A driver attempted to flee the scene of an accident before crashing into a bus stop on Generaal Pienaar Street approximately 30min ago.

A Nissan Hardbody collided with a Volkswagen Citi Golf on the corner of Gregor and Generaal Pienaar Street after skipping a stop street.

The driver of the Nissan was travelling in the direction of Corlett Drive when it skipped the stop street on Generaal Pienaar.

It then collided with the Citi Golf which was travelling in the Pick n Pay Shopping Centre’s direction.
After the collision the bakkie spun around and tried to flee the scene towards Albertina Sisulu Road.

It was during this getaway attempt that he drove into a bus stop and in turn collided with the a boundary wall of a resident’s yard.

It is believed the driver of the Nissan threw a 750ml Castle Lager bottle out the window in the process.
ER24 paramedics attended to a woman in the Nissan who reportedly complained of chest pains.

Both individuals in the Citi Golf were not injured.

No fatalities were reported.
